I'M BACK and Blue

Hello, I'm Xylina.

A few years ago, I told myself, "I'm gonna make it to Parsons." After countless episodes of Project Runway, *sigh* (I know, Parsons hates PR) I found myself wishing to go to Parsons for Fashion Design and I made it a goal. This blog was supposed to be my journey from young Texas girl with no future to a successful New Yorker with a sense of style and an eye for design, hence the name From Texas to Parsons.

Little to no experience with web design or photography, I took a leap of faith when starting a fashion blog. I expected to get amazing views and instant popularity on the interwebz but that wasn't the case and I became extremely disappointed. Now looking back, I realize that I wasn't very realistic with my goals and didn't understand that things take time.

Well, now that I am back in the game, I just want to say, I did, indeed, make it into Parsons The New School For Design and I am making my dreams come true every day. I'm currently in my First Year here and I've overcome many hurdles while living in New York City. I hope this time I learn the tricks and trade of being a fashion blogger and continue to pursue my biggest dream.

I am wearing:
Floral Headband- DIY
Backless Blue Lace Dress-H&M
Black Opaque Tights-MyMother's closet
Black Booties-H&M

Spring Wishlist

Just something I've been wanting for a while. This cut out wedged heel is just so amazing to me. It looks odd but so cute at the same time. Plus, being a beginner in heels, wedges are easier to walk in. I just love them! They'd probably make a whole look just by wearing them. I'm sure I'd hyped on LookBook if I wore them...

Spring is in the air!

I love spring. In Texas, you're able to wear skirts in early March! I love it. Skirts are becoming an obsession for me. The thought of bare legs aren't as scary as they used to be.

Make up is a fashion statement too.

So why not add makeup to a fashion blog? Makeup is a fashion statement. I just wanted to add something a little different. Plus, I was already at the computer. I recently entered this look for a Arabian eye contest at MakeupGeek.com. Hopefully I win. This is just an inspiration to a whole lot more to come. Like I said, fashion is an art and so is makeup. :)

Super Bowl Sunday

Yay Packers!!! Happy Sunday everyone! I thought I'd end the week with a new post. Since my last post I've been trying to get back into a happier state of mind. What a better way to do that than to do it the best way I know how, dressing up! Lately, I've been actually wearing clothes and putting more than a T-shirt and jeans on so I thought maybe I could make this thing happen. I promise you I can't put something up every day but I'm still new to this.
Shirt: Strawberry (NYC) Vest: Jc Penny Necklace: Gift
Oxfords: Aldo

Now it's 9:30 and I'm ready for some new Glee!!! See you soon, I hope. :)

Fail Blog here we come...

It's easy to make a blog, hoping someone actually cares what you think. It's also easy to believe you have talent. Everyone says that it's easy but no one says that it's hard. A fashion blog is more than just any other blog. A fashion blog requires talent. You have to have the actual talent of being able to piece clothing together to make an outfit that will want people to recreate. Hoping I had this talent, I made this blog to hopefully share the love of fashion I have with others. It's been three days and so far no one has cared. Maybe I'm expecting too much, maybe I should blog more. Whatever the case, it's heart breaking. This could be my depression kicking in but damn it, this is hard.

Black on black on black on black with an 80's blazer.

Lets start it off with something black. It's always in style. It's also obvious I like to dress to impress.
